Anne C Godfrey explores the relationships between unique landscape systems and how humans value, understand, represent and alter these places.
Photographic representation of the landscape:
She writes extensively about cross-disciplinary investigations of the landscape through critical practices in photography. This work hybridizes concepts and methods in environmental design, contemporary photography and cultural theory.
Her book series, Active Landscape Photography, presents collections of essays examining the complex relationship between photography and environmental design. It is available from Routledge Press.
Godfrey has collaborated with notable landscape architecture firms to document their unique photographic methods for design research and development, including: SCAPE, Snøhetta, Nelson Byrd Woltz, Coen+ Partners, MIG, Mayer/Reed and TEN x TEN.

Understanding marine ecologies:
Godfrey’s residency at Centrum has led to new work on marine ecologies, marine animals, marine restoration and the role of community science centers and aquariums in this work. Current projects include sea otter rehabilitation, kelp forest restoration, cross agency collaborative data collection and aquarist training and mentorship.
Godfrey’s own practice in photography informs her writing.
